Chigamik Harvest

The CHIGAMIK plots at the Midland Community Gardens Little Lake Park site have moved from seeds and small plants to harvesting fresh vegetables and sharing. Thanks for the help harvesting and weeding Jenna and Carol.  It is amazing how things have moved along during these hot summer months. With diligent watering and some tender loving care (I do talk to our plants) our gardens have produced green and yellow beans, peas, radishes and zucchini.

We were able to share our crops with the Mothercare group on Wednesdays and with the Georgian Bay Native woman’s Association’s Cooking with Kids program here at CHIGAMIK on Tuesdays. We also delivered fresh crops to the St Paul’s morning drop in on a Monday morning. Thank you Tom and volunteers. We look forward to sharing our tomatoes as they will be ready to harvest very soon.

Meeting here at CHIGAMIK for monthly meetings has been a great example of community learning, sharing and cooperation by dedicated team members. It is exciting to see this community working together to achieve the goals set out by the Midland Community Gardens Project. CHIGAMIK Community Health Centre is pleased to be a partner in this important Community initiative.
